Italy's 2027 sale dates at a glance
Italy's end-of-season sales, the saldi, start on the same days in almost every region, under a rule the regions agreed in 2011. Only Sicily had published its 2027 dates when we checked official sources on 16 October 2026; the other regions usually confirm theirs in late autumn. Here is what the rule gives for 2027.
| Start (from the national rule) | Status | |
|---|---|---|
| Winter sales 2027 | Tuesday 5 January 2027 | Expected; official in Sicily (5 January to 15 March) |
| Summer sales 2027 | Saturday 3 July 2027 | Expected; official in Sicily (3 July to 15 September) |
South Tyrol and Trento follow their own systems, and Valle d'Aosta has started earlier than the rest of Italy; see the exceptions below. We will update this page when the regions confirm 2027.
How Italy sets the saldi start dates
On 24 March 2011 the Conferenza delle Regioni agreed a single start date for the whole country. Winter sales begin on the first working day before Epiphany (6 January), and Saturday counts as a working day. Summer sales begin on the first Saturday of July. A 2016 addition says that if the winter date would fall on a Monday, the sales start on the Saturday before. Each region adopts the rule through its own act, and every year the regions' economic development committee confirms the dates; for 2026 it did so on 10 November 2025. The rule can be changed for a single year: in 2023 the summer sales started on 6 July instead.
Worked out for 2027: 6 January 2027 is a Wednesday, so the first working day before it is Tuesday 5 January, and the Monday rule does not apply. 1 July 2027 is a Thursday, so the first Saturday of July is 3 July.
How long the sales last, region by region
The start is shared, but each region sets the length. These are the latest official figures we could read, mostly from the 2026 season:
| Region | Length or end date | Source year |
|---|---|---|
| Lombardy | Up to 60 days (summer 2026: 4 July to 1 September) | 2026 |
| Piedmont | 8 weeks, set by each municipality and not always in one block | 2026 |
| Veneto | To 28 February and 31 August | 2026 |
| Emilia-Romagna | Up to 60 days | 2026 |
| Tuscany | 60 days | 2026 |
| Liguria | 45 days | 2026 |
| Marche | To 1 March and 1 September | 2026 |
| Friuli Venezia Giulia | To 31 March and 30 September, by regional law | 2025 law |
| Lazio | 6 weeks | 2022 act; 2026 dates not read |
| Campania | Up to 60 days | 2025-26 |
| Sardinia | 60 days | 2026 |
| Apulia | Winter to 28 February | regulation |
| Sicily | To 15 March and 15 September | 2027, official |
We could not read official pages for Abruzzo, Umbria, Basilicata, Calabria and Molise, so check those regions' own sites.
South Tyrol, Trento and Valle d'Aosta
- South Tyrol (Bolzano): the Chamber of Commerce publishes the dates by district. In 2026 most municipalities ran their sales from 8 January to 5 February and from 16 July to 13 August, while tourist towns such as Ortisei, Selva Gardena and Castelrotto used later windows, 7 March to 4 April and 21 August to 18 September. The 2027 dates were not yet published.
- Trento: there is no fixed date. Each shop can run its own sale of up to 60 days, with at least 30 days between two sales and 15 days' notice through the SUAP business portal. A sign saying "discounts up to" a percentage must also state the minimum discount.
- Valle d'Aosta: its own regional law has let the sales start a few days earlier, on 2 January in 2025, so check the region's announcement each year.
Why discounts pause before the saldi
Many regions ban promotional sales in the weeks before the saldi, so shops cannot run early discounts on the same goods. The ban is 30 days in Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto (seasonal products), Emilia-Romagna (clothing, footwear, accessories, leather goods and fabrics) and Lazio, and 40 days in Liguria, where shops must also put up a sale sign at least 3 days before the start. Sicily allows promotions only in set windows, in 2027 from 16 March to 2 July and from 16 September. Trento has no such waiting period for ordinary promotions.
Where Imperial fits in
Brands with outlets work differently from the saldi. Imperial, the Italian fashion brand, runs an online outlet all year with previous collections, with reductions of up to about 70% when we checked in October 2026 (see our Imperial outlet guide). Its delivery pages warn that orders can take longer during sale periods, so in January and July allow extra time. Current Imperial offers are on our Imperial coupons page.
How to check your town's exact dates
- Your region's commerce page, which publishes the dates and length each year.
- Your municipality, especially in Piedmont, where each comune sets its 8 weeks.
- The Chamber of Commerce in Bolzano or Trento for South Tyrol and Trentino.
- Shop windows: in Liguria a sale sign must be up at least 3 days before.
How we checked this page
We read the official sources on 16 October 2026: the regions' agreements as adopted in Piedmont's resolutions, the sales pages of Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Liguria, Marche, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Campania, Sardinia, Apulia, Sicily and Lazio, the Chambers of Commerce of Bolzano and Trento and the Valle d'Aosta region's news. Dates for 2027 outside Sicily are our reading of the national rule, not an announcement. This page is maintained by the SavingArena Editorial Team.
