Black Friday 2026 in Canada at a glance

When is Black Friday in Canada? In 2026 it falls on Friday 27 November, the same day as in the United States. Canada's own Thanksgiving was back on Monday 12 October, so Black Friday here follows the American holiday calendar: it is the day after US Thanksgiving. Several Canadian retailers start well before then. Canadian Tire says its Black Friday savings start on Thursday 5 November, and Best Buy Canada gave its free My Best Buy members Black Friday prices on select products from 2 to 5 November.

Prices on this page are in CAD unless we say otherwise. Offers from the stores we track are on our Black Friday deals page, and our guide to when Black Friday 2026 starts covers the big US retailers, many of which ship to Canada.

Which Canadian retailers have started

This table lists what each retailer had published on its own Canadian website when we read it on 1 November 2026. Where a site gave nothing or would not open for our research tools, we say so rather than guess.

Canadian Tire Black Friday

Canadian Tire's Black Friday page says to "get set to save on kitchen appliances, Christmas decor, tools, cookware and more starting Thursday, November 5." Its own FAQ adds that Black Friday 2026 is on 27 November and that promotions may launch before Black Friday and continue through Cyber Monday, so expect several rounds of deals rather than one day.

A few details from the same page are worth knowing before you shop:

  • Shipping. Triangle Rewards members get free local shipping on eligible Ship to Home orders over $99.
  • CT Money. Canadian Tire says eligible Black Friday purchases may earn CT Money under the Triangle Rewards terms, and tells shoppers to check each offer's details.
  • Credit. The page also promotes 4% back in CT Money at Canadian Tire with a Triangle credit card. That is a credit product with its own terms, so read them before applying for a card to get a sale perk.

Best Buy Canada: last year's calendar

Best Buy Canada has not published its full 2026 calendar. Its 2025 schedule, from its own release of 3 November 2025, shows how the season usually runs there. These are 2025 dates, not 2026 ones:

2025 event2025 date
Early Black Friday dealsFrom 3 November 2025
Singles Day sale (48 hours)From 10 November 2025
Official Black Friday saleFrom 19 November 2025 at 9:00 p.m. PST
Cyber Monday1 December 2025
Boxing Day saleFrom 24 December 2025

In 2025 Best Buy Canada also ran a Black Friday Price Guarantee: products with a "Black Friday Price Now" or "Black Friday Pricing" badge would stay at that price through its Black Friday sale, and if the price went lower it would refund the difference. We could not read Best Buy Canada's 2026 terms, because its help pages did not open for our tools, so check the current terms on bestbuy.ca before you count on it.

Cyber Monday in Canada

Cyber Monday 2026 is Monday 30 November in Canada, as in the US. Some Canadian retailer pages give 1 December, which was Cyber Monday's date in 2025, so check the year on any date you see. Canadian Tire says some of its promotions may run through Cyber Monday. No other Canadian retailer we checked had published a 2026 Cyber Monday sale by 1 November. We will add them here as they appear, and offers from the stores we track are on our Cyber Monday deals page.

Black Friday or Boxing Day?

Canadian shoppers have two big sale seasons a month apart, and many people ask which is cheaper. There is no reliable answer for every product, and we have not seen data from a Canadian retailer that settles it. What you can compare is practical:

  • Gifts. Black Friday comes before Christmas, so it is the sale for presents. Boxing Day comes after.
  • Returns. Canada's Office of Consumer Affairs notes that many retailers restrict returns between Boxing Day and New Year's Day, and extend their return windows in January. Check the return period of anything you buy in either sale.
  • Price history. Note the price of the item you want now, and compare it with the Black Friday price and the Boxing Day price. A tag that says "save" tells you little on its own (see the regular price rules below).
  • Timing. Both sales now start early. In 2025 Best Buy Canada's Boxing Day sale began on 24 December.

Can you return Black Friday buys in Canada?

Only if the store's policy allows it, unless the item is defective. The Office of Consumer Affairs, part of the federal government, puts it plainly: "In Canada, businesses are not obligated to accept the return of purchased items unless they are defective." Many shops still offer refunds or exchanges, but that is their own policy. Its advice for Black Friday buys:

  • Learn the policy before you pay. It is often posted near the till or printed on the receipt, and you can ask for it in writing.
  • Keep the receipt. Stores almost always need one for a refund or exchange.
  • Think before you open the box. Some stores charge a restocking fee, often a percentage of the price, if you return an item outside its original packaging.
  • Keep gift receipts. A store may not refund a gift without one, though you may get store credit.
  • Check who the seller is. Third-party sellers on a retailer's website can have different return policies from the retailer itself.
  • Know where to go. If a seller does not keep to its policy, contact your provincial or territorial consumer affairs office. Rules can differ by province.

Our Black Friday returns and price matching guide covers the big US stores' policies. Canadian stores set their own, so read the Canadian site's terms even for a brand you know from the US.

How to spot a fake regular price

Canada's Competition Bureau has warned retailers about this ahead of Black Friday. On 25 November 2025 it said it was seeing a surge in complaints about inflated regular prices, and that a business cannot advertise "$100, now $50" if the item never sold at $100. Under the law, a regular price has to pass one of two tests:

  • The volume test. More than half of the product's sales were at that price or higher within a reasonable period, usually within a year, before or after the sale.
  • The time test. The product was offered in good faith at that price or higher for a substantial period, usually within a year, immediately before or after the sale.

The Bureau also warned against vague claims such as "20% off our regular price" that cannot be checked. As a shopper you cannot see a store's sales records, but you can watch the price of an item for a few weeks before Black Friday and see whether the "regular" price was ever the price you would have paid. If you think a sale is fake, the Competition Bureau takes complaints through its website. Our guide Are Black Friday deals real? has more ways to check.

How we check this page

The dates and offers on this page come from the retailers' own Canadian websites, read on 1 November 2026: canadiantire.ca, bestbuy.ca, amazon.ca and costco.ca. Best Buy Canada's 2025 calendar comes from its own news release of 3 November 2025. The return rules come from the Office of Consumer Affairs' page on refunds and exchanges, and the regular price tests from the Competition Bureau's statement of 25 November 2025.

We will read the retailers' pages again on 13, 19 and 24 November and add Walmart Canada, Amazon.ca and Best Buy Canada's main sale dates when they publish them. Our other guides are in the Black Friday hub. This guide is written by the SavingArena Editorial Team.
